Focus Hope and Salvation

October 18, 2025

While the world is preoccupied with many distractions, we as believers should remain focused on living out our faith in Christ. Living out my faith in Christ is my everyday focus.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-10 says.

Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,  for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.  While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.  You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.  So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.  For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.  But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.  For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Self-Evaluation

September 24, 2025

Trey Knowles emphasizes the importance of examining oneself in light of God’s Word. Self-evaluation means intentionally studying your own actions, attitudes, and tendencies to ensure you are walking according to God’s will. It is a process of becoming aware of your strengths, weaknesses, behaviors, and habits, with the purpose of growing in obedience to God.

Scripture reminds us of this in James 3:13–15, which teaches that true wisdom is demonstrated through humility and godly living, while envy and selfish ambition reveal a wisdom that is earthly and unspiritual.

Living in the Spirit requires daily discipline. Just as people train animals to obey, we must train our own hearts, minds, and bodies to submit to God. Self-discipline allows us to resist ungodliness, deny instant gratification, and remain focused on long-term spiritual growth. It involves perseverance, impulse control, and learning from failures in order to move forward faithfully.

Ultimately, self-evaluation and self-discipline work together to help believers crucify the flesh, live by the Spirit, and walk in obedience to the Word of God.

Producing Love and Faithfulness For Lord

Producing Love and Faithfulness For Lord

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.

Note: Make God commands your focus points.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck,

write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Note: Have Zeal love for the Lord.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.

Note: To "shun" means to deliberately avoid someone or something, often out of dislike, caution, or disapproval.

This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Proverbs 3:1-8:

Repent or Perish

February 09, 2025

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. Proverbs 3:7

Note: Shun means to turn away from evil:

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.  Acts 3:19

They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. 1 Peter 3:11

Note: Seek peace: Live the way God intends for you to live

Repent or Perish

Luke 13: Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.  Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?  I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.  So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’

“‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’”
