The fear of the Lord ( to listen) is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

To fear the Lord is to allow the Lord to have supreme authority over oneself by being in obedience throw faith in the Lord.

Trey Knowles: What Faith Involves, Living by Faith

What Faith Involves

Biblical faith involves three key features:

1. Knowledge

Faith is dependent upon what can be known about God. In fact, the New Testament says that faith involves us coming to know God Himself. In John 17:3, Jesus says, “This is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

Note: John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

How can you know God? In the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ! Speaking of Jesus, John 1:18 says, “No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.” That’s why it is so important to consider the claims that Jesus made: it is in knowing Him that we know God. And it is this knowledge of God that gives us the basis for our faith.

2. Assent - express approval or agreement, typically officially.

In biblical faith, our knowledge of God must then be followed by assent. Once we’ve recognized that certain things are true and are to be believed, we must actually believe them! Biblical faith is certainly more than giving assent—but it is never less.

As we read the Bible and consider the claims of Jesus Christ, we discover in Christ someone who compels people’s belief—sometimes even against their will. We might say to ourselves, “I don’t want to believe in Jesus. I don’t want my life taken over. I don’t want somebody in charge of me.” Yet when we lay our lives open before Christ, when we see Him on the cross, and when we understand that He bore all of our sin and rebellion, He compels our belief. When we see Christ in this way, knowledge will be followed by assent.

3. Trust

Lastly, genuine faith involves trust. Knowledge and assent alone do not make genuine faith. James 2:19 says that “even the demons believe.” Demons are not atheists. They even have an orthodox view of God. If faith, then, is simply about understanding God correctly, we must logically conclude that the demons have saving faith. Yet we know that this isn’t the case.

A simple awareness of facts is not faith. There must be a movement from knowledge to assent that then culminates in trust.

A summons to trust in Christ—actively, not passively—is included in all of His invitations. In Matthew 11, for example, He says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (vv. 28–29). Notice the verbs: “come,” “take,” “learn,” “find rest.” These are all action words. They involve doing. You see, faith is not passive resignation. New Testament faith begins in knowledge, leads to assent, and ends in trust on the basis of the knowledge to which we have assented.

A Picture of Faith

A helpful illustration of biblical faith is marriage. Like faith, marriage involves multiple stages. First, you must get to know the individual: you go out for dinner, you walk in the park, you listen to them talk, and you observe them with their family and friends. As you gain knowledge, you begin to ask yourself, “Could I spend my life with this person? Am I willing to commit myself to them?” Then, once you have satisfactory answers to these questions, you begin to tell yourself, “On the basis of the knowledge that I’ve gained, I am prepared to make a commitment. I want to move beyond mere knowledge and assent to trust. I want to give myself to them. I want to know them at the deepest possible level.”

This is the experience of all who place their faith in Jesus. Is it your experience? Are you a person of faith?

Romans 14 Weak and The Strong

 The Weak and the Strong

14 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written:

“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,

‘every knee will bow before me;

    every tongue will acknowledge God.’”[b]

12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.

19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. (edification is the building up of the body of Christ) 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.

22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith, and everything that does not come from faith is sin

Notes: Hebrews 11:1 (Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.)

Notes:  Substance Equals Jesus

Notes: All good things come from God above. Which we put our hope in.

Notes: If does not come from Jesus it is sin because it is impure.

Notes: And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Image of God or the World. A Story of Choice by Trey Knowles

I am just a child. I came out of my mother's womb beautifully, God made no mistakes when he knit me together. I had no tattoos and no piercings. My Image is clean.

Just like is written. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13

What do I see and what am I looking at? I see the people of the world having tattoos and piercings. Young kids and teens think it’s okay because this is what we see In the world. This is not the practice of God this is the practice of the world.

Let me test my mother to see if she is a stumbling block to me. I truly believe if my mom knows the truth she will not allow me to get tattoos or piercings on my body. If she knows the truth and allows me to get tattoos on my body, then I know mother is a stumbling block to me, and she is not for me.

Disobedience is one thing but being a stumbling block is another because I have no money to do it, I am just a child. If my Mother is in her right mind she would probably tell me something like this.

Trey, Trey, Trey, your name is being called by your Father, but your Father does not recognize you with this Tattoo and piercings. What have you done to yourself Trey, your Father ask. You were one of us what have you done to yourself?

I am so glad that I don’t have tattoos and piercings. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,

I know that full well. It is written in Psalm 139:14

Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:28.

It is written in Genesis 3: 9-10 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

I don’t want to repeat the something that Adam did. When God calls me, I am His. I look like His. I am His, I will act like I am His. I will walk in Him, I will live in Him, and have my being.

It is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

There should be no Gossip about nobody on my social media pages. I will not entertain gossip or backbiting. I do not find anything entertaining about anybody's misfortunes or mistakes. In fact, it's none of my business. If I dont know them to correct them, I will say nothing at all. Love corrects. This even goes for politics.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. Anybody who delights in the company of evil enjoys what is evil. This even goes for listening to it or even watching it. For we are called to be Holy. We must separate ourselves from the darkness of this world. Those who love darkness are entangled with darkness.

Their mouths speak with darkness, they insult one another with darkness. They do not uplift or encourage. Be watchful and witness, see their content on YouTube, see their content on Twitch, and do not be like them. As you watch them you will see that this behavior is not from God.

They influence others with marijuana usage of alcohol and words of destruction amongst one another. Nothing good from their lips. Watch I am not lying, but be my witness, and see their evil on YouTube, Twitch, and Tiktok. For this is not gossip. For this in the public eyes. I am ashamed, I feel persecuted by watching their wickedness, and to the glory of God, which we call out of from darkness and into light, Lord I ask that you show them light because they do not know what they do.

Your Life Should be Walking by Trey Knowles

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Galatians 5:22

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:24

In order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:4

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. As I warned you before, I warn you that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide a way of escape, so that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

Dedicated- (of a person) devoted to a task or purpose; having single-minded loyalty or integrity

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:24

"Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. How to follow Jesus?

Step 1: Be Born Again

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. John 3:3.

Step 2: Be a Person that Prays

One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray and spent the night praying to God. Luke 6:12. Understand a follower does what a leader does.

Step 3: Listen to Him

While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased. Listen to him!” Matthew 17:5.

Step 4: Believe in Him

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Understand a Believer puts their faith in the one they believe in by listening and responding.

Step 5: Obey Him

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 Understand by accepting and doing and dwelling in his Love. Abide.

Step 6: Love Him

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with your entire mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30. How do I love God? With my entire mind. When I love God, I protect what I place in my Mind. My Soul will be steadfast and loyal and always persevering. Not giving up.

Step 7:  Share Him & Serve Him

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19. For I understand I will not be ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:

Step 8: Suffer for him

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.  Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. John 15:18-20.

How to Follow  Jesus?

Step 8: Suffer for him

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.

That is why the world hates you.  Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. John 15:18-20.

Note: To Suffer for Christ means you will always obey no matter what.

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.

This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.  For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him,  since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. Philippians 1:27-30.

Note: Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45,

You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:4.

How to Follow Jesus?

Step 6: Love Him

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with your entire mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30.

How do I love God? With my entire mind. When I love God, I protect what I place in my Mind.

My Soul will be steadfast and loyal and always persevering. Not giving up.

Note: First, loving God requires knowing Him, and that knowledge begins with His Word. To know Him is to love Him. To love God is to worship and praise Him.
It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.

To love God is to put Him first. It’s an undivided love. God is our priority. If we love God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength, then we won’t allow other things to crowd in.

Our love for God is manifested by loving people, but we do not love the things of the world. Earth has nothing to be desired.

Its God that we desired.  We cannot love this present world and God at the same time (1 John 2:15); love for what the world offers can lead us astray (2 Timothy 4:10).

To love God is to desire Him, to yearn for His righteousness, His Word, and His grace.

Step 5: Obey Him

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Understand by accepting and doing and dwelling in his Love. Abide.

Note: Obedience is something that we do and apply with love; it is not nothing that is done to us.

It is written in John 14:15. “If you love me, keep my commands.

It is written in John 14:21. Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him."

It is written in John 14:23. Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him

John 15:10

If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and remain in His love.

It is written in 1 John 2:3. By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.

It is written in 1 John 5:3. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome,

It is written in 2 John 1:6. And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love.

How to Pray

Jesus said to us, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.” Luke 11:1-4

Note: Jesus taught, “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men … but when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen.

Trey Knowles : Sanctification

| Thursday, January 19, 2023

Sanctification is God’s will for us to be set apart from sin.

(1 Thessalonians 4;3).

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;

For God has not called us for impurity but in holiness.

Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.

The word sanctification is related to the word saint; both words have to do with holiness. To “sanctify” something is to set it apart for special use; to “sanctify” a person is to make him holy. Be devoted to God.

Disconnect from sin: To live a sanctified life, you must disconnect from sin. Sin will never go on its own. If you don't rise up against it, it won't go. You can wait from now till eternity for sin to go; but until you rise up against it, it won't. This is because it is determined to destroy your destiny.

Following Jesus

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. Matthew 16:24

Deny- Means to refuse and give up ways and admirations that are the opposite of Jesus Christ. What does it mean to deny yourself in Matthew 16:24?

What self-denial does mean is that while we can have the desires of our heart, we are to deny our own way of achieving them and trust the Lord to do it His way.

Denying ourselves also means turning away from the ways of the “old self” and continually putting on our new self in Christ.
